The Seaboard's pedal inputs can be used to modulate parameters in Equator. The pedal input accepts both on/off and continuous type pedals, so it's possible to use it for both sustain pedals or controllers.
In Equator either pedal type can be mapped to any synth parameter.
Step 1 – Select pedal type in ROLI Dashboard
In ROLI Dashboard, assign the Pedal to any CC you like.
What CC should I choose?
If your pedal is an on/off pedal (like a typical sustain pedal), select one from the list. The typical on/off-type pedals are grouped at the top of the drop-down list. Selecting these will determine the behavior of the pedal, for example whether it is a sustain or sostenuto pedal.
If your pedal is a continuous controller, select any other CC number.
Note: Many CCs have names (for example CC7 is called Volume), but these are only labels and don't have any default response in the case of Equator.
For example, by assigning the pedal to CC64, it behaves like a Sustain Pedal.
Step 2 – Assign Modulation in Equator
Open Equator from your applications folder. In the top-right corner of the RISE controls, click the arrows to reveal the Macros. Macros can be used to assign the modulation of extra controllers such as the RISE's faders, or pedals.
Click an unused Macro (by default, 1–5 are used by the RISE's Touch Faders and XY Touchpad) and type the CC number of your pedal as selected earlier. Now the Macro is ready to be assigned just like another Modulation Source.
In the example below, we are selecting CC64 for Macro 6, which is then assigned to Cutoff frequency and Oscillator Level.
Now, when pressed, the pedal will not only sustain notes (because it transmits CC64), but also modulate the Cutoff frequency and Oscillator level.
