Can I use Equator2 offline/without ROLI Connect?

Once authorisation has completed, Equator2 can run without requiring ROLI Connect to be running for up to 4 weeks before needing to "phone home" again. Should this occur, you'll be prompted to launch ROLI Connect again.

Can I use Equator2 with the Seaboard GRAND?

While the Equator2 presets have been optimised to suite the Seaboard RISE, your Seaboard GRAND should be able to play Equator2 sounds so long as it is connected as an available MIDI device that Equator2 can see. Equator2 and Equator2 presets are not compatible with the embedded Equator sound engine.

What is the Equator2 Library?

The Equator2 Library contains all of the factory sample instruments, granular instruments and wavetable files that the factory presets use, and that you can use to create your own sounds. It is essential to install this library before launching Equator2, to ensure that all presets recall successfully.

If Equator2 is unable to find any instruments, Equator2 will display a “Missing Instrument” error in the source window and prompt you to download the library via ROLI Connect. If you see this error, please ensure you have installed the Equator2 Library before launching the Equator2 application/plugin again.

________________________________________________________________________

What is the Equator1 Legacy Library?

The Equator1 Legacy Library contains a curated selection of the sample instruments that were part of the original Equator release, as well as some extra sample instruments from our vaults. It is important that these samples are installed before launching Equator2 to ensure that all presets recall successfully.

If Equator2 is unable to find any instruments, Equator2 will display a “Missing Instrument” error in the source window and prompt you to download the library via ROLI Connect. If you see this error, please ensure you have installed the Equator1 Legacy Library before launching the Equator2 application/plugin again.

Do I need to install the Equator1 Legacy Library if I already have Equator1 installed?

If you already own the original Equator1 software, it's very likely that you have these samples installed already. In the event that Equator2 is unable to find any particular Equator1 instruments, you will need to install the Equator1 Legacy Library to ensure all instruments are accounted for.

________________________________________________________________________

Can I decide where the Equator2 Library/Equator1 Legacy Library data is installed?

Currently, ROLI Connect will only install the Equator2 Library and Equator1 Legacy Library to a location on the system drive, but we are aiming to introduce a custom installation location soon. The system locations that the Equator2 library content is installed to can be found in the Equator2 User Manual.

Can I import my own samples or wavetable files into Equator2?

Yes – in the Wavetable/Granular/Sampler mini browser, there is a “drag & drop” area that you can drag your samples/wavetables to. Sample files must be in either WAV, AIFF or FLAC format; SFZ import is not currently supported.

Equator2 supports wavetable files with a window size from 256 to 2048.

Can I edit my own samples in Equator2?

It’s not currently possible to edit imported samples in Equator2, but we’re hoping to introduce more extensive sample editing features in the future.

Is there any MIDI CC mapping functionality in Equator2?

The 5 macro controls – 3 faders and 2 XY controls – are assigned to the following MIDI CC# values, which are the default values for the Seaboard RISE faders/XY pad:

  • Macro 1: 107

  • Macro 2: 109

  • Macro 3: 111

  • Macro X: 113

  • Macro Y: 114

In a DAW, the vast majority of other Equator2 parameters can be accessed via the DAW automation lane, but no further MIDI CC mapping is currently available.

Can I load Equator1 factory or user presets in Equator2?

Yes - All of your Equator1 factory, user and soundpack presets will appear in the Equator2 browser, and can be filtered accordingly. While we’ve ensured that any Equator1 presets loaded in Equator2 are recalled as accurately and as closely as possible, some changes and improvements we’ve made in the Equator2 engine mean you may notice some subtle differences in the timbre of the sound.

________________________________________________________________________

Can I load Equator2 presets in Equator1?

No - Equator2 presets are not compatible with Equator1. The Equator2 application/plugin is required to load Equator2 presets.

Can I load Equator2 presets in ROLI Studio?

Equator2 support is not currently available in ROLI Studio Player.

Why do some Standard/MPE presets not contain Aftertouch/PRESS/LIFT modulation?

Aftertouch can provide further expressive capabilities from within a Standard preset, so long as a compatible MIDI keyboard controller is being used. Sound designers may intentionally omit Aftertouch modulation from certain sounds, to preserve the transient quality of the sound, or for aesthetic or creative purposes. The same goes for LIFT or PRESS with MPE presets; on occasion the sound designer will have omitted these at their discretion, to ensure that the sound can be played and expressed as it was originally intended.
