ROLI Studio is a powerful music production software suite that allows you to create music with ease. Here are the steps to install ROLI Studio Player and ROLI Studio Drums correctly.

Installing & Authorising


Step 1. Open ROLI Connect/Register ROLI Studio to your ROLI account


When purchasing ROLI Studio on ROLI.com, if you are logged into your account and have the box shown below ticked, ROLI Studio will be auto-registered to your account as soon as it is purchasedYou can now simply login to ROLI Connect using your ROLI account details.




If you did not select the auto-register option, or if you bought the software from a third-party, your ROLI Studio serial will be sent in a separate email. Once the serial has arrived, please follow the steps below:


  1. Download the latest version of ROLI Connect from roli.com/start 
  2. Log in with your ROLI account details
  3. Click the barcode button in the top-right corner of ROLI Connect
  4. Enter your ROLI Studio serial number and click register.

Step 2. Install the ROLI Studio Player/Drums application & plugin


  1. Ensure you’re running the latest version of ROLI Connect. You can download the latest version here.

  2. Once you've installed, log in to ROLI Connect with your ROLI account details. If you're already logged in, please sign out of and back in to ROLI Connect to ensure ROLI Studio can authorise successfully

  3. Select the Apps tab and you will see ROLI Studio Player and Drums listed amongst your other software products.

  4. Click the green “Install” button next to each software to begin downloading and installing the application and plugin. ROLI Studio Drums only requires this step to fully install the application and plugin. 

  5. Once the installation has completed, click the ROLI Studio Player name itself to reveal the content libraries, and proceed to the next section.

Step 3. Install the Equator2 Factory Library content


  1. ROLI Studio Player uses the Equator2 sound engine, so you'll need to install the library content for Equator2. After clicking the ROLI Studio Player name in the Apps tab, you will see two content libraries:



  2. First, begin the download & installation of the larger of the two libraries, the Equator2 Factory Library, by clicking the green Install” button next to the Equator2 Factory Library option:


  3. The Equator2 Factory Library installer is 5.2GB in size, so please ensure you have at least twice this amount (10.4GB) of free disk space to accommodate for both the installer and the installation before proceeding

  4. The content will take some time to download. Please ensure your computer does not go to sleep during this time, to ensure the download is able to complete successfully

  5. Once the download has completed, the installation will occur automatically and a grey "Uninstall" button will appear if the installation has been successful, and you can proceed to the next section.

Step 4: Install the Equator1 Legacy Library content


The Equator1 Legacy Library* contains a curated selection of the sample instruments that were part of the original Equator release, as well as some extra sample instruments from our vaults. It is important that these samples are installed before launching ROLI Studio Player to ensure that all presets recall successfully.


  1. As per the steps above, to install the Equator1 Legacy Library, click the green Install” button next to the Equator1 Legacy Library option:



  2. The Equator1 Legacy Library installer is 1.3GB in size, so please ensure you have at least twice this amount (2.6GB) of free disk space to accommodate for both the installer and the installation before proceeding

  3. The content will take some time to download. Please ensure your computer does not go to sleep during this time, to ensure the download is able to complete successfully


  4. Once the download has completed, the installation will occur automatically and a grey "Uninstall" button will appear if the installation has been successful

Step 5: Authorise ROLI Studio


ROLI Studio Player and Drums require ROLI Connect to be running and to be logged into your account in order to be authorised for the first time. 


Once authorisation has completed, ROLI Studio can run without requiring ROLI Connect to be running for up to 4 weeks before needing to "phone home" again. Should this occur, you'll be prompted to launch ROLI Connect again.

Step 6: Removing the installers (optional)


Once the ROLI Studio Player/Drums application, Equator2 Factory Library and Equator1 Legacy Library have been installed, you can remove the original installers to free up disk space by deleting the following folders:


Mac:

  1. Open Finder, hold the option ⌥ key and head to Go -> Library in the menubar
  2. Navigate to Application Support/ROLI/ROLI Connect
  3. Delete the “downloads” folder

Win:

  1. Open File Explorer
  2. Navigate to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\ROLI\ROLI Connect
  3. Delete the “downloads” folder

Troubleshooting


'Install Failed' error

If ROLI Studio fails to install, try signing out of ROLI Connect, restarting your computer, signing back into Connect and installing again which should resolve the issue.
