Airwave, Piano M, and ROLI Piano come in two editions -- Learn and Create. The editions for each product share the same high-quality design and include the same core software. The main difference lies in the onboarding experience -- whether you’d like to focus on learning to play, or dive straight into music creation and production.

Learn Edition

  • Focus: Designed to help you learn piano through the ROLI Learn app, offering an interactive and intuitive way to develop your skills.

  • Hardware: Identical to the Create edition of the same product.

  • Software: Includes ROLI Studio (free for all hardware owners). To unlock full lesson content in ROLI Learn, a paid subscription is required.

Create Edition

  • Focus: Aimed at music creation and production, guiding you straight into ROLI Studio for sound design and performance.

  • Hardware: Identical to the Learn edition of the same product.

  • Software: Includes ROLI Studio, and you can optionally subscribe to ROLI Learn if you’d like to explore piano lessons too.

Key Points

  • ROLI Studio is included free with all ROLI hardware.

  • ROLI Learn is a separate subscription service that provides access to guided piano lessons.

  • The Learn and Create editions only differ in their setup experience -- the hardware and core functionality are the same within each product line.

A Note on Hardware Differences

While the Learn and Create editions of a given product (for example, ROLI Piano Learn and ROLI Piano Create) use the same hardware, the hardware itself differs between product types.
For example,
Piano M and ROLI Piano each have their own distinct design and specifications. However, within each product range, the Learn and Create editions are identical in build and performance.

  • Airwave is a hand-tracking system that uses infrared cameras and Spatial AI to enable users to control music through gestures or support their piano learning. Airwave is compatible with any MIDI keyboard but to use Airwave with ROLI Learn, Airwave must be paired with either Piano M or ROLI Piano.

  • Piano M is a modular 24-key keyboard with DS 5.5 width illuminated keys.

  • ROLI Piano is a 49-key keyboard with full-size, semi-weighted illuminated keys and a plunge depth similar to a piano. It is not modular so you cannot connect two together. It has a sustain pedal input.
