If you're experiencing latency – a delay between when you play a note and when you hear it – there are a few things to check.

Bluetooth speakers/headphones

Make sure you're not using Bluetooth speakers or Bluetooth headphones to listen to your performances, as Bluetooth connections add latency.

Equator/Equator2

It is important to set an optimal buffer size to balance the demands on your computer with your computer's processing power.

  • Higher buffers reduce the risk of clicks and pops but increase the latency (delay).
  • Lower buffers induce less latency but are more prone to producing clicks and pops if your computer is overloaded.

While using Equator or Equator2 in standalone mode, you can change the buffer size in settings. Click on ☰ in the top right corner and go to Audio & MIDI (or just Audio) settings. Select a different value next to Audio Buffer Size.

You can further reduce the demand on your computer by clicking on Disable Animation in the top right menu (Equator) or choosing CPU Save Mode in Preferences (Equator2)

While using Equator/Equator2 as a plug-in, the buffer size is controlled by the DAW hosting the plug-in. Adjust the buffer size in your DAW's Audio Preferences/Settings.

ROLI Studio Player / Drums

While using Studio Player or Studio Drums in standalone mode, you can change the buffer size in the app's settings. Click on the cog icon in the top right corner and go to Audio & MIDI settings. Select a different value next to Audio Buffer Size.

While using Studio Player or Studio Drums as a plug-in, the buffer size is controlled by the DAW hosting the plug-in. Adjust the buffer size in your DAW's Audio Preferences/Settings.

NOISE

If you're using NOISE, check to see if you are using Groove Kits. Groove Kits behave differently from Drum Kits. Rather than responding immediately to each Strike gesture, Groove Kits contain rhythmic loops and are designed to be played by holding down your fingers and using Press, Glide, and Slide gestures to dynamically shape the pattern.
